The initiative is being implemented by the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) and the German development agency GIZ as part of the E4D program.

The program is dedicated to supporting marginalized communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly women, youth, and those in the informal sector. With the assistance of SAFEEM (Swiss Association for Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets), the Acceleration/Growth Programme seeks to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of businesses led by women, thereby enhancing their potential to secure additional funding from private investors. This extended program will span an extra three months in duration.

Both the initial acceleration and subsequent growth programs are designed to help women entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa thrive and make positive contributions to employment opportunities in their communities. This will be achieved through improved business acumen, access to formal financial services, and integration into local and regional value chains.

The acceleration program will run for three months, followed by a three-month growth program and technical support if selected. All training and program activities will be conducted online through Zoom, with access to an online program management and e-learning platform.
