The German Government, in collaboration with the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), presents the prestigious German Government Wascal Scholarship for the 2024 intake.

This fully funded scholarship offers opportunities for academic and personal growth, allowing you to study in esteemed universities across West Africa and Germany.

Wascal Scholarship Details

The German Government Wascal Scholarship is designed to support outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence and a passion for addressing climate change. Other details of this program have been outlined below:

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for this scholarship award, Candidates must meet the requirements below:

  • Candidates must be citizens or have citizenship from a WASCAL member country (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, or Togo)
  • A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Biological Sciences, Oceanography, Geography, Fishing or Livestock Engineering, and Geography, Sciences of the Atmosphere, is required or related fields.
  • Proficiency in English language (minimum intermediate level) is a core requirement
  • Admission may be extended to other ECOWAS member countries as self-funded students on an availability basis.
  • Prospective Candidates who wish to apply for Master Research Programme in Informatics for Climate Change, are required to have a minimum of BSc in Computer Science, Geography, Biological sciences, Geoscience, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Health sciences, Meteorology and Climate science, Agriculture, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronic Engineering.
