They are searching for groundbreaking solutions that encourage equitable collaboration, nurture meaningful connections between generations, and inspire young minds to find their purpose. If your venture revolves around fostering social connections, amplifying youth leadership, and shaping a better future, they eagerly await your participation.

They are seeking solutions that align with the following objectives:

  • Empowering youth leadership for social impact: They are looking for solutions that enable young individuals to recognize their strengths, passions, and potential. By fostering self-awareness, these solutions empower young people to take the lead in creating positive change within their communities.
  • Promoting equitable intergenerational collaboration: They aim to promote equity by encouraging social connections, mutual learning, and empathy across different generations. Solutions that facilitate inclusive intergenerational collaboration ensure that young people have an equal opportunity to lead and drive change. This approach allows them to benefit from the collective wisdom and resources of all age groups, magnifying their impact and sustaining their commitment to creating a difference.
  • Cultivating agency in young people: They are interested in solutions that ignite agency and initiative among youth, motivating them to take ownership of their ideas, actions, and their overall impact. By nurturing this sense of confidence and autonomy, these solutions empower young individuals to become capable leaders, driving changemaking efforts not just temporarily but throughout their lives.

Benefits

All eligible applicants can expect the following benefits:

  • Feedback from Ashoka and/or HSBC representatives.
  • Opportunities to connect with a community of changemakers through the challenge, including providing and receiving feedback and participating in community events.

Early Entry Applicants will receive additional benefits:

  • Chance to be selected as Early Entry Winners by submitting their applications by June 3rd, 2024.
  • Feedback is provided to Early Entry Applicants ahead of the final entry deadline.
  • Three Early Entry Winners will be awarded $1,500 each.
  • Note that being selected as an early entry winner does not guarantee selection as a final challenge winner.

Semifinalists and finalists will have the following opportunities:

  • Participants can enhance their applications by incorporating feedback received from Ashoka, HSBC, and their fellow peers.
  • Access learning opportunities from Ashoka, HSBC, and their networks throughout the journey.

The prize structure for winners is as follows:

  • Up to 12 winners will receive a minimum prize of $15,000 and up to $25,000.
  • At least 3 winners will be selected from the Early Stage category (organizations registered for 0-3 years), and at least 3 winners from the Established Stage category (organizations registered for 3+ years).
  • The top winner from each category will receive a prize of $25,000.

The aim is to ensure diverse representation among the winners, covering various focus areas, age groups, and geographic regions.

Eligibility Criteria

Participants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • The “Together, Towards, Tomorrow” Challenge is open to individuals making an impact in specific countries including Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay, and Vietnam.
  • The leadership structure of your organization must include at least one member who was born in 1994 or later and has held a leadership position for a minimum of 12 months. In the case that your organization is younger than one year. It is required that at least one of the founding members was born in 1994 or later.
  • All entries must be submitted in English, and participants are allowed to submit only one application.
  • Employees of HSBC, advertising and promotion agencies, as well as other service providers for this Challenge. And their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling) are not eligible to participate.
  • Participation is not open to partners or previous winners of HSBC challenges, as well as initiatives already receiving financing or support from HSBC, its affiliates, subsidiaries, or joint ventures.

Additional Criteria

  • Your venture should be in its early or mid-stage.
  • Your initiative should be incorporated, whether it’s a non-profit, for-profit, or hybrid organization.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of applying.
  • Only applications in English will be accepted, as winners will need to engage in activities that require English proficiency.
  • If your solution has not been implemented at scale, you should have a clear business plan and a minimum viable solution. Such as a prototype, pilot, or proof of concept.
  • Each individual or venture is allowed to submit only one application.

Evaluation Criteria

The evaluation of each application will consider the following 5 criteria equally:

  • Connection and Commitment: Your initiative actively engages with your community, prioritizing the voices and needs of young people.
  • Activating Young Changemakers: Your venture empowers young leaders to drive meaningful change and create a better future.
  • Impact: It is important to measure and demonstrate the impact of your initiative, while also emphasizing continuous learning and skill development.
  • Innovation: Your venture should strive to push boundaries and explore innovative approaches to tackle complex challenges.
  • Operational Viability: Your organization must have a well-defined plan for long-term sustainability and adaptability in various local contexts.
