Details About Taiwan AID NGO Fellowship Program

The Taiwan AID NGO Fellowship Program is an initiative by the Taiwan Alliance in International Development (Taiwan AID) in collaboration with the MingYi Foundation. Taiwan AID’s mission is to provide NGO professionals with a unique platform to gain invaluable insights and hands-on experience in the Taiwanese NGO landscape.

Through workshops, NGO placements, and roundtable events, participants will deepen their understanding of key issues and forge meaningful connections with their Taiwanese counterparts.

Key Program Features

  • NGO Placement: During the three-week NGO placement, fellows will be assigned to host NGOs in Taiwan based on their professional backgrounds. This immersive experience will allow participants to contribute to daily operations, gain practical skills, and cultivate lasting relationships within the Taiwanese NGO community.
  • Workshop: The program kick-start’s with a four-day workshop designed to enhance your knowledge of NGOs’ roles, challenges, and best practices. Led by industry experts and thought leaders, the workshop covers a range of topics, including project management, advocacy strategies, and sustainable development goals.
  • Roundtable Event: Participate in a roundtable event where fellows and Taiwanese NGO professionals come together to share insights, experiences, and innovative ideas. Exchange perspectives on pressing issues, explore potential collaborations and build bridges across borders.
  • Future Project Collaboration: As part of the program, fellows will have the opportunity to develop and present project proposals for future cooperation in their home countries. Be it launching community initiatives, advocating for policy change, or implementing sustainable solutions, this initiative aims to catalyze impactful projects that address pressing societal needs.

Who’s Eligible for the Taiwan AID NGO Fellowship Program?

The Taiwan AID NGO Fellowship Program is open to dedicated NGO professionals aged 25 to 40 with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience. Taiwan AID welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to:

  • Community development
  • Environmental conservation
  • Education
  • Gender equality
  • Human rights
  • Media and information technology
  • LGBTQ+ rights
  • Medical services
  • Social welfare
  • Outstanding applicants from other NGO fields are also encouraged to apply. Our selection criteria emphasize professional excellence, independent thinking, and a commitment to driving positive change.
  • Proficiency in written and oral English is essential, while fluency in Mandarin is considered advantageous.

Selected fellows will receive full sponsorship covering flights, accommodation, meals, transportation, and per diem allowances during the placement period.

The fellowship journey runs September 29th to October 26th, 2024. Below is the schedule breakdown:

  • 29: Arrival in Taipei
  • 30 – Oct. 3: Workshop and site visits

Am I still eligible to apply if I don’t meet all the requirements perfectly?

Absolutely! All interested individuals are encouraged to apply, regardless of whether they meet every eligibility criterion.

Who should I ask for recommendation letters?

Taiwan AID recommend obtaining at least one recommendation letter from your organization, such as from a supervisor or colleague, and another from someone who knows you personally and can attest to your character and abilities.

Is the recommendation letter confidential?

Applicants have the option to upload recommendation letters directly to the application form. While confidentiality is not mandated, applicants may choose to treat the letters as confidential at their discretion.

When will I hear back about the application review and interview selections?
