The QEPrize, known as the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, is dedicated to recognizing and supporting remarkable engineering innovations that have a positive global impact on humanity. It is considered the most prestigious award in the field, with an annual prize fund of £500,000.
The prize aims to foster excellence in engineering, celebrating the visionaries and inspiring young individuals to consider engineering as a career path. It encourages engineers to push the boundaries of what can be achieved, as engineering itself is a diverse and ever-evolving discipline that plays a crucial role in finding solutions to global challenges.
By enabling collaboration across the globe, exploring the intricacies of cells, reaching distant stars, and navigating our world, engineers have significantly improved the lives of billions of people.
Prize
- The winners will receive a cash prize of £500,000 (GBP).
- The Trustees will decide on the appropriate memorabilia to be awarded to the winners.
- If the Prize is given to multiple individuals (not exceeding five) collaborating under a single nomination, the Prize money will be shared among them based on the Trustees’ discretion, taking advice from the Judging Panel.
Eligibility Criteria
The Prize is available to:
- any individual who is currently living (or a team of up to ten living individuals)
- any nationality
- Those who has personally contributed to a significant engineering innovation that has had a positive impact on humanity worldwide. Self-nominations are not accepted.
- Trustees retain the authority to decline any nomination if, in their judgment, there is or could be a conflict of interest involving the nominees, nominators, referees, or any other nomination related to the Prize.
Nomination Process
- The deadline for submitting your nomination(s) is June 8, 2024.
- Referees have until August 9, 2024, to submit their supporting statements.
