Job Summary

The Commercial Relationship Management Officer plays a crucial role in the sales team by establishing and nurturing relationships with customers, identifying and converting sales opportunities, and attracting potential commercial and retail customers. They also monitor the competition to stay informed about the strategies being employed in order to maintain a competitive edge.

Job Responsibilities

Sales management

  • Implement branch commercial sales strategy reflective of the local market conditions to ensure sales targets are achieved. This includes possessing product knowledge, cross-selling, and staying up-to-date with changes and developments in the local market/area to drive optimal sales opportunities.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to establish and maintain relationships.
  • Focus on driving customer acquisition and increasing volumes in commercial business in the Bank by opening various types of accounts.
  • Offer input to the sales team and product management regarding the development, upgrade, or introduction of new/existing products, with the aim of expanding their market presence among small and medium-sized businesses and individuals.
  • Manage and maintain existing commercial business relationships while seeking new accounts through sales.
  • Deliver sales presentations to various prospective customers and engage in frequent brainstorming.
  • Actively participate in creating and maintaining a positive sales environment by promoting the Bank’s products and services.
  • Effectively convert service recovery to business opportunities and maintain client loyalty.
  • Visit clients and potential customers to assess their needs or promote products and services.
  • Coordinate sales efforts with marketing programs.

Risk management

  • Possess the capability to distinguish an acceptable level of lending risk that aligns with the Bank’s risk appetite statement and optimize profits from the transaction.
  • Follow the Bank’s complaint resolution procedure to resolve the issue, maintain superior service standards, and decrease further risks or losses.
  • Reduce risks by strictly adhering to KYC compliance as per the Bank’s policies and procedures in all your transactions to minimize losses due to frauds.
  • Discuss loan terms and conditions and carry out collateral risk assessments to ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Verify that all documentation is valid and complete for the assigned portfolio.
  • Abide by the Bank’s policies and procedures.

Financial management

  • Examine and evaluate financial statements, projected cash flow reports and other intricate financial reports, providing precise assessments.
  • Conduct prequalification assessments and financial risk analyses for financing requests within the Bank credit culture framework as well as prevailing economic and industry trends.
  • Review financial statements of new clients and assess all loan documents.
  • Contribute to the increase in branch profitability by enlarging deposits, loans and overdrafts.
  • Prepare and aid the Branch Managers in finalizing deposit funding and credit proposal papers.
  • Handle negotiations with prospective customers regarding all contracts.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding credit terms, availability, products, and prices.

Customer service

  • Maintain and deliver exceptional customer service standards for better service delivery.
  • Document customer complaints in the customer query register, identifying the root causes and addressing them at the source to avoid future occurrences.
  • Provide suitable products and services through the most appropriate channel to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Offer a uniform yet diverse customer experience by providing an all-encompassing needs analysis and consultation to strategic clients in portfolio management and taking charge of customer service matters of all categories.
  • Ensure consistent and frequent communication with clients by providing thorough, concise portfolio evaluations and guidance.
  • Act as a problem-solver for clients by assisting them in identifying investment criteria, and anticipating and resolving concerns arising during consultation leading up to decision-making.
  • Follow the correct procedures and processes expected from all personnel who are in regular contact with customers.
  • Provide financial services guidance to customers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer grievances.
  • Engage customers about banking products and services.
  • Attract and onboard new customers.

People management

  • Foster collaboration with colleagues at the branch to ensure efficient support and service provision.
  • Contribute to cultivating a positive and proactive culture, including compliance with safety and well-being regulations.
  • Demonstrate and embody the Bank’s values while adhering to all corporate HR policies.
  • Display strong leadership abilities.
  • Possess the necessary qualifications and skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Any Field Required. Further Certification would be Beneficial
  • Specialized expertise: 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Professional Credential: CIBN Certification
  • Experience in Sales and Marketing
  • Proficient in digital tools
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities
