The Asia Foundation has announced the application call for its Women Researchers Fellowship program 2024, an unparalleled opportunity for female researchers hailing from the Global South.
This one-year program, commencing from March 20, 2024, to March 20, 2025, not only provides a substantial research grant but also offers avenues for skills development and professional networking. The Asia Foundation, in collaboration with partners in the Cross-Border Conflict: Evidence, Policy, and Trends (XCEPT) program, is set to champion six (6) early-career female researchers.
These scholars will explore the intricacies of conflict dynamics in border regions, contributing valuable insights to the global discourse on peace and stability.

Academic Qualifications
- Applicants should hold a recent master’s degree or PhD in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Alternatively, equivalent professional research expertise, demonstrated by a report or journal article of similar rigor to a master’s thesis, will be considered.
- Candidates must show interest in issues related to conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and development initiatives in unstable or conflict-affected contexts.
- Applicants must have a sufficient command of written and spoken English to actively participate in training, networking activities, and to produce high-quality research outputs.
- Successful applicants must commit, on average, at least two to three flexible days per week for the fellowship’s duration. This includes participation in regular online meetings and in-person events throughout the year.
Application Process
Prospective candidates need to submit the following items before January 15, 2024:
- Curriculum Vitae: A concise document, no longer than two pages.
- Cover Letter: Articulate why you are an ideal candidate, your expectations from the fellowship, and how the experience will enable you to serve your community and networks in the future.
- Research Proposal: A comprehensive proposal of up to five pages outlining your intended research within the program’s scope, including research questions, methodology, and the geographic region or overall theme of focus.
- References: Provide contact information for two referees. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to submit a recent writing sample.
