Lenovo’s Transparent Laptop Concept Reportedly Leaked Again

Lenovo’s transparent laptop concept reportedly leaked again. This very device seems to pair a transparent display with a touch-sensitive keyboard. And that said, the device is expected to be revealed at MWC in Barcelona in the later parts of this month.

Leaker Evan Blass has provided another glimpse of Lenovo’s transparent laptop concept ahead of its expected debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. The newly leaked press image showcases two of the concept laptops placed on a desk, with one device visible through the transparent screen of another. This marks the second glimpse of the concept device, following leaked press shots published by WindowsReport earlier this month.

Transparent screens have been a concept in technology for over a decade, with Samsung showcasing a transparent laptop concept at CES 2010. However, after 14 years, it seems that companies are now ready to commercialize this technology. Instances of transparent OLED window displays in trains in China and Japan, as well as LG’s announcement of a transparent Signature T television at CES this year slated for sale in 2024, further support this trend.

What It Means For Lenovo to Unveil This Concept Laptop

If Lenovo indeed unveils the device at MWC, it will be intriguing to hear the company’s rationale for a laptop with a transparent display. While there may be niche applications such as for receptionists or front-of-house staff, potential privacy concerns arise if screen contents are visible from the back.

In addition to its transparent screen, leaked press images of Lenovo’s concept laptop suggest it will feature a completely flat, touch-sensitive keyboard. A stylus visible next to one of the devices in Blass’s leaked image indicates potential support for doodling on the display, and the wallpaper shown on the laptop hints at a Windows 11 operating system.

There’s No Guarantee of the Laptop’s Commercial Release

However, it’s important to note that while Lenovo may showcase the laptop concept at MWC, there’s no guarantee of its commercial release. Last year, the company exhibited a rollable laptop at the same event, but there has been no further discussion about its commercial availability since then. Similarly, there is speculation whether this new transparent laptop concept will follow the same path.
