Zuyd University in Holland accepts applications from suitably qualified international students for the NL–Zuyd Excellence Scholarship (NL-ZES) 2024. The NL-ZES is open to international students aspiring to pursue their academic dreams at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences.
This prestigious scholarship at Zuyd University is a harmonious blend of the NL Scholarship and the Zuyd Excellence Scholarship awards. The scholarship offers a generous €5000 in the first year of study and a maximum €3600 net discount on tuition fees throughout the nominal duration of your chosen study program.
NL–Zuyd Excellence Scholarship
Students who are successfully awarded the NL-ZES scholarship have their academic progress evaluated annually, as the scholarship must be renewed for the following academic year with a minimum of 45 credits earned during that year.
The scholarship can only be renewed for the stated length of the relevant program. After June 1st, those applicants who are not chosen for the NL-ZES will automatically be considered for the Zuyd Excellence Scholarship (ZES).

Eligibility Criteria for the NL–Zuyd Excellence Scholarship
To be eligible for the NL–Zuyd Excellence Scholarship (NL-ZES), prospective students must meet the following requirements:
- Non-EU/EEA Nationality: The scholarship excludes individuals without EU/EEA nationality, Switzerland, or Suriname citizenship.
- Zuyd Student Number: Obtain your Zuyd student number through Studielink.
- Program-Specific Requirements: Fulfill the specific requirements of your chosen study program.
- Highest Institutional Tuition Fees: Commit to paying the highest institutional tuition fees.
- Residence in the Netherlands: Reside in the Netherlands during your study period.
- Academic Commitment: Maintain a minimum of 45 obtained credits per academic year for renewal.

- Submit Required Documents: Alongside the completed form, include a personal letter of motivation, a letter of reference, your curriculum vitae, and ensure a Dutch bank account is in place for payment reception.
- Letter of Motivation: Write a letter of motivation, covering why you chose Zuyd University, the value you expect the program to add to your education, and its contribution to your future career.
- Reference Letter Guidelines: The reference letter should be signed, dated, submitted on official stationery, and include details of the referee’s name, position, and department.

Selection Criteria
- NL-ZES applications undergo individual assessment, are prioritized by arrival, and are subject to supply and demand.
- The International Office and relevant faculty committee decide scholarship allocation based on academic merit, entrance examination results, and the content of motivation and reference letters.
- Applicants will be notified of scholarship results by email before 1 June, unless entrance exams are pending. In case of non-selection, students may deregister before 31 August with no further obligations.
- Failure to meet eligibility criteria during studies may result in the withdrawal of the Zuyd Excellence Scholarship.
Application Deadline
The final submission deadline for the NL-ZES is 1 May 2024.
Applicants not selected for NL-ZES will automatically be considered for the Zuyd Excellence Scholarship (ZES) after June 1st.
