Call for applications: 2nd edition of the Refugee Fellows Programme 2024!

The Refugees International is excited to announce the call for applications for its second cohort of the Refugee Fellows program in July 2024. The goal of this special fellowship is to support and enhance the global refugee leaders’ ongoing advocacy work.

Refugee Fellows Program

The second cohort is designed to optimize fellows’ growth and impact. The programme will last for one year, with a guarantee that fellows have strong support for their advocacy objectives. Refugees International is dedicated to giving displaced and refugee people the access, resources, and tools they need to change the advocacy landscape and make their voices heard.

Overview of Refugee Fellows Program 2024

An official affiliation with Refugees International will be granted to fellows. They will work closely with the personnel of the organization to assist in their advocacy efforts. This work may also include a report from Refugees International and/or additional analyses and advocacy efforts, such as events, directly advocating with policymakers, participating in international donor and policy forums, and/or media interviews, may be among them.

Through this fellowship, fellows will collaborate with Refugees International personnel and take advantage of chances for peer-to-peer learning with other members of their cohort. In addition to opportunities for informal training, fellows will get formal training on advocacy and communication skills and strategies from Refugees International professionals and specialists.

Benefits

Fellows will receive a $15,000 grant over the course of the year in four quarterly payments for working up to five hours per week.

Financial support will be provided by Refugees International, and fellows will be asked to:

  • Participate in Regular Meetings
  • Engage in an In-Person Retreat
  • Plan and Conduct a Webinar on a relevant advocacy topic in collaboration with Refugees International staff.
  • Co-Publish at Least One Publication
  • Plan and Conduct a Field Research Trip
  • Participate in Regional or/and Global Refugee-Related Events

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Refugee Fellows Program is open to individuals with personal experience of forced displacement and;
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to advocacy for the rights and safety of displaced people.
  • The Refugees International encourages emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds to apply.
  • Language Proficiencies: Preference is given to English language competency for the ultimate success of the fellowship program
  • Digital Access: As a remote program, so candidates must have their own computer and internet access to participate.
  • Fellows must provide a bank account to which the grant can be transferred in adherence with U.S. law.

  • Qualified Candidates must complete an application form with a personal statement, and provide a concise work plan for the fellowship year.
  • Selected candidates will be invited to a panel interview during the second half of June with final decisions about fellowships made by the beginning of July
  • The Fellowship kick starts on 22 July 2024, for a one-year term.
