Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, commonly known as KNB Scholarship, is a financial aid program provided by the Indonesian Government for prospective international students from developing countries seeking to pursue a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree at one of the universities in Indonesia.
Fully funded KNB Scholarship 2024-25
Originating from the 10th Conference of Heads of States of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries in September 1992, the scholarship was established the following year for potential students from NAM member countries.
The KNB Scholarship offers recipients the opportunity to study in top Indonesian universities while immersing themselves in one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant societies. With 31 university partners, the scholarship provides quality degree programs.
In 2024, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with 31 KNB Scholarship host universities, will accept 222 applicants. This includes 30 Bachelor awardees, 162 Master awardees, and 30 Doctoral awardees.

Financial Benefits
The KNB Indonesian Government Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship covering all expenses, including:
- Settlement Allowance: IDR 1,500,000 upon arrival in Indonesia
- Monthly living and book allowance during language courses and preparatory programs
- Monthly allowance during the academic program, covering living, research, and book expenses
- Health insurance with a maximum monthly premium of IDR 400,000
- Round-trip international airfare (economy class) from the student’s home country to Indonesia
Scholarship levels and durations:
- Indonesian Language Course and Master Preparatory Program: Maximum 12 Months
- Bachelor’s Degree Program: Maximum 48 Months (8 Semesters)
- Master’s Degree Programs: Maximum 24 Months (4 Semesters)
- Doctoral Degree Programs: Maximum 36 Months
Eligibility criteria
- Age Requirement: The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 21 years old.
- Educational Background:
- Hold a High School degree.
- Bachelor’s degree holders are not eligible to apply for the Bachelor’s Degree scholarship.
- Please provide scanned copies of the degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa.
- English Proficiency:
- Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows:
- TOEFL ITP of 477
- TOEFL IBT of 53
- IELTS of 5.5
- TOEIC of 510
- The certificate must be obtained within the last 2 years.
- Participants from English-speaking countries or those enrolled in English programs at their home university do not need to submit an English proficiency document. Provide official proof from the home university.
- Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows:
- Recommendation Letters:
- Provide a recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.
- Provide a recommendation letter from the employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if currently employed).
- Provide an Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
- Documentation:
- Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of High School Degree in English or Bahasa.
- Submit proof of citizenship by providing an Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years.

- Passport and Nationality Identity Card
- English Proficiency Test certificate (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC)

- Parents’ affidavit
Application deadline
The deadline for online applications for the KNB Scholarship 2024-25 Indonesian Government Scholarship is February 23, 2024.
