Apply now for the IISS Southeast Asian Young Leaders Programme Visiting Fellowship 2024. In the upcoming year, the IISS is pleased to host two Visiting Fellows affiliated with the Southeast Asian Young Leaders Programme at their Asia office in Singapore.
The aim is to amplify the region’s representation in wider discussions on international security. The selected fellows will have the opportunity to spend up to three months with the IISS in Singapore.
During this time, they will actively engage in the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue and the Southeast Asian Young Leaders Programme. Additionally, fellows will research a mutually agreed-upon regional security issue.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to citizens of an ASEAN member state, Pacific Island state, or Timor-Leste
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Strong background in one of the Institute’s research areas
- Plans to engage with security issues in the future through scholarship, analysis, government service, armed forces, politics, or journalism
- Early- to mid-stage of their careers

Candidates should submit the following documents:
- Cover letter explaining interest in the fellowship proposed research area, and available dates in 2024 for the fellowship.
- Curriculum vitae or resume, including the names and contact details of two potential referees.

The deadline for receipt of applications is February 8, 2024. Due to the anticipated volume of applications, only selected applicants will receive a reply following the acknowledgement email.
