In 2024, the IISS will once more host two Visiting Fellows at our Asia office in Singapore as part of the Southeast Asian Young Leaders Programme, to enhance regional participation in wider discussions on international security.
The two fellows will be offered the opportunity to spend a maximum of three months at the IISS in Singapore, where they will take part in the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue and Southeast Asian Young Leaders Programme, as well as conduct research on a jointly selected regional security topic.
Benefit
- Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of SGD 5,300, and their travel expenses and accommodations will be provided for. Regrettably, applications for remote fellowship opportunities cannot be accepted.
Eligibility Criteria
To be a participant, you must:
- Demonstrate fluency in spoken and written English at a professional level.
- Have a solid foundation in one of the Institute’s research fields.
- Intend to address security matters in the future through scholarly work, analysis, government or military service, political involvement, or journalism.
- Hold citizenship in an ASEAN member state, Pacific Island state, or Timor-Leste.
- Be in the early to mid stages of their professional careers.
