The Ernest Solvay Fund provides financial assistance to projects in three specific domains:
- STEM education, encompasses science (with a focus on chemistry, physics, and earth sciences), technology, engineering, mathematics, and digital education.
- Scientific advancement, excluding medical and pharmaceutical fields.
- Sustainable development initiatives related to climate change, resource utilization, and the circular economy.
Funding
- They will offer financial support of up to €10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Any non-commercial organization involved in the implementation of a project aimed at promoting and fostering the following areas is eligible:
- Encouraging the adoption of scientific and technological (STEM) education and studies among young individuals.
- Promoting engagement in scientific research and environmental initiatives.
- Supporting scientific and technological entrepreneurship.
- Note that applications for scholarships or fellowships related to doctoral or post-doctoral research are not eligible. However, congresses that bring together young people for educational purposes can be considered.
- All projects must be based in the country where Solvay operates.
Selection Criteria
During the selection process, the jury will consider the following criteria:
- The potential impact of the project, including the number of people it will benefit and the communication of key performance indicators (KPIs) as requested in the application form, such as the age of beneficiaries and their number.
- The project’s innovative, original, and pioneering nature.
- The project must have a clear, concrete, and realistic plan.
- It should be feasible to implement within the specified funding and timeline.
- The project summary should be accurate, and the allocation of the grant from the Fund must be clearly stated in terms of expenses.
- The funding provided by the Fund can be supplementary, but it should not replace public funding.
- It should cover the necessary expenses to execute the project, excluding marketing or advertising sponsorship and logistical costs.
- The support provided by the Fund should be critical to the success of the project, making a tangible difference to the beneficiary organization.
