The fellowship is designed to expose fellows to various editorial facets within the Apple News ecosystem. Through a three-month rotation across key editorial teams encompassing breaking news, audio, and newsletters, participants gain invaluable insights into diverse news formats.

Following this phase, fellows, in collaboration with Apple News leadership, select a specialized focus area for the remainder of the fellowship.

Responsibilities:

  • Curating Quality Content: Fellows are entrusted with the responsibility of curating content of the highest calibre. Emphasizing quality, accuracy, and contextual relevance. They will select and showcase stories from Apple News’s esteemed publishing partners. In delivering impactful journalism to millions of users worldwide.
  • Crafting Engaging Display Copy: Fellows are tasked with writing sharp and engaging headlines and descriptions, driving user engagement and amplifying the reach of curated stories.
  • Strategic Planning for Coverage: Fellows are challenged to develop comprehensive plans for covering major news events. Ensuring timely coverage that resonates with Apple News’s diverse audience.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Fellows engage directly with editors from Apple News’s publishing partners. Fostering meaningful partnerships and facilitating seamless communication to uphold the highest editorial standards.

Who Can Apply?

  • Prospective applicants must be current members of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in good standing.

  • Eligible candidates include recent graduates of accredited U.S. colleges or universities or individuals with fewer than three years of journalism experience.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0, a degree or relevant experience in journalism or communications. A steadfast commitment to a career in digital journalism are prerequisite for application.
