The 2024 Solutions Journalism Accelerator Call aims to provide grant funding and research opportunities to empower freelancers and small journalist teams in the field of solutions-focused development journalism. The primary objective is to support and enable 12 journalists or journalist teams to produce and share impactful stories utilizing a Solutions Journalism approach.

These stories will offer new perspectives, shed light on underreported issues, prioritize the Global South, and delve into global development matters. Recognizing the crucial role of journalism in informing the public about significant societal challenges, they acknowledge the benefits of solutions-focused and community-oriented approaches, both for journalists and media organizations, as well as for promoting more impactful reporting outcomes.
Benefit
- The selected projects, with a maximum of 12, have the potential to receive a grant amounting to €8,500.
Eligibility Requirement
- Freelance or staff journalists or small journalist teams with experience in reporting on development topics are eligible to apply. There are no restrictions based on citizenship or residency, but applicants must have a proven track record of publication in respected media outlets in France, Germany, or the UK.
- The projects must have a solutions-focused approach and address one or more of the first six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): No poverty, Zero hunger, Good health and well-being, Gender equality, Clean water, Quality education and sanitation.
- The projects or stories must be published in opinion-forming media organizations in France, Germany, or the UK.
