About A.L Lane Foundation

The A.L Lane Foundation, established in 1975 by Alan Leslie Lane O.A.M, is a philanthropic trust that supports charitable, educational, and community projects across the Warrnambool region. Mr. Lane was not only a successful businessman but also a dedicated community leader who served as a Warrnambool City Councilor for 18 years.

Even though Mr. Lane passed away in 1995, his legacy of supporting the local community continues through his generous bequest to various charitable causes and projects.

  • Applications for Trimester/Semester 1, 2024, open on 15th September 2023.
  • The application deadline for Trimester/Semester 1, 2024, is 9th January 2024, at 5 pm.

Scholarship Offer Rounds

There are several rounds for scholarship offers:

  • Early Round: To be considered for early-round scholarship offers, submit your application and supporting documentation by 5th December 2023, at 5 pm.
  • Round 1: To be considered for Round 1 scholarship offers, submit your application and supporting documentation by 9th January 2024, at 5 p.m.
  • The goal is to allocate all scholarships in this round.
  • Re-offer Round: If any scholarships remain unclaimed after previous rounds, you can submit your application and supporting documentation by 31st January 2024, at 5 p.m.

Benefits

The A.L Lane Foundation Achieving Potential scholarship provides cash payments of up to $10,000 per year to recipients, for three years, making the total maximum value of this scholarship $30,000.

Eligibility Criteria

Before you submit your application, you must ensure you meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • You must be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, or hold an Australian permanent humanitarian visa.
  • You must be a commencing student enrolled in Trimester 1, 2024, at Deakin’s Warrnambool campus (on-campus study).
  • Enrollment must be full-time in an associate, bachelor, or honours degree in a Commonwealth-supported place (CSP).
  • You must be experiencing an area of hardship.

Areas of Hardship

The areas of hardship include:

  • Financial hardship, such as receiving a means-tested Centrelink benefit, Low Income Health Care Card, or having a personal or family taxable income below the University’s threshold.
  • Students who reside in a rural, regional, or remote area.
  • Having a disability or long-term medical condition.
  • Arriving in Australia as a refugee.
  • Demonstrable hardships beyond the mentioned categories.

  • Proof of medical condition (if applicable)

How to Apply for A.L Lane Foundation Achieving Potential Scholarship 2024?

You have two application options in applying for the A.L Lane Foundation Achieving Potential Scholarship 2024:

  • Submit a VTAC scholarship application: You will be eligible for this award if you have submitted a VTAC scholarship application together with your application to study at Deakin University.
  • Apply directly to Deakin: You can apply for this scholarship through Deakin’s Scholarship Application Portal if you didn’t submit a VTAC scholarship application, are applying directly to Deakin for a programme, or already have your course offer for 2024.

    Select the ‘Undergraduate Scholarship Application Tri/Sem 1 2024’ option to have the scholarship considered for your application if you meet the criteria.

We will assess all applications based on the details provided by applicants in their supporting documents. Please note that we will offer a limited scholarship from December 2023, and we will offer the remaining ones by January 2024.
