The York University President’s International Scholarship Of Excellence for the 2024/25 academic year, will be awarded to International high school applicants commencing their first year of a four-year undergraduate program at the prestigious York University, and who exhibit academic excellence, dedication to extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and leadership abilities.
The university requires prospective candidates to have a final admission average of at least 80% (A). During the selecting process, financial need could also be taken into account. Recipients hailing from different locations across the globe are given the “President’s International Scholars” title.
Benefits of York University President’s International Scholarship
York University President’s International Scholarship Of Excellence will be renewable for an additional three years of full-time study or until degree completion (whichever comes first) provided the recipient completes a minimum of 24 credits each Fall/Winter session with a minimum sessional grade point average of 6.0.
Where the recipient’s immigration status changes at any time while studying at York and they are exempted from paying international fees for any reason, the value of this award will be adjusted to reflect domestic tuition fee values.
Note: The President’s International Scholarship Of Excellence cannot be held in conjunction with the York University Continuing Student Scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria for York University President’s Scholarship
To be eligible for the York University President’s International Scholarship of Excellence, applicants must:
- Be an international student who needs a study permit in order to pursue an education in Canada
- Have submitted an application for a York undergraduate program starting in the fall of 2024
- Not have attended any previous colleges or universities and must have applied to York straight out of high school, no later than two years after graduation.
- A minimum “A” average or equivalent is required, along with an outstanding academic record.
- Have shown leadership by volunteering in the community or excelling in other areas of personal achievement, such as sports or the arts.
- Prospective Candidates must be nominated by their high school to be eligible for the award. Students who are nominated will also be considered for other York University awards
- Upload a letter of recommendation and ensure that application documents are shown as “Received” in the York application, by February 1, 2024 at 11:59:59pm, Eastern Time

The application form include the following:
- A personal statement from applicant (300 words maximum),
- A financial profile,
- A list of activities and volunteer experiences and
- One letter of reference.
Important: Applicants whose applications are not considered for the President’s International Scholarship of Excellence will be considered automatically for other international entrance scholarships.
