The KSJ (Knight Science Journalism) Fellowship Program is a unique opportunity for aspiring journalists to engage in a fusion of disciplines, including science, technology, and journalism. This funded program, held annually in the USA, invites 10 students globally to engage in a 9.5-month research-based experience.
Participants will have the opportunity to study and gain experience from high-ranked universities worldwide. This fusion of disciplines sets the stage for a comprehensive exploration of the intersections between science, technology, and journalism.
KSJ Fellowship Overview
This KSJ fellowship program is designed for students aspiring to excel in the field of journalism. With a research-based approach, participants will explore the intricacies of journalism, bringing depth and solidity to their data collection methodologies.
Participants are not limited to traditional presentations. They have the freedom to express their research through various mediums such as presentations, videos, and recordings, allowing for a multifaceted approach to learning.
The fellowship will be held under the supervision of Research experts who will guide the students from time to time. Upon successful completion of the Fellowship Program, participants are expected to give an oral presentation related to their research projects.
Benefits of the KSJ US Fellowship Program:
- Fellows will receive up to $85000 stipend in total in 9.5 months
- A Relocation allowance
- Health insurance facility for both fellows and their family members
Eligibility
- The KSJ Fellowship Program is only for full-time Journalists
- Prospective Candidates must have at least three (3) years of experience in the fields of journalism, science, or health
- The fellowship is open to Media writers, journalists, film producers, and media correspondents
- Participants must not attach any previous fellowship program of four months in the last two years

- Reason for participation in this KSJ Fellowship program (500 words maximum)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) showing educational background, work details, honors, and awards along with dates
- Samples of work previously done (Five copies)
- Up to three (3) letters of recommendation, with the complete details of recommenders
Requirements:
Upon Successful enrolment for the KSJ Fellowship Program 2024, participants should:
- Obtain a passport from the U.S. State Department
- Remain in Boston for the program’s duration (9.5 months)
- Chose at least one science course in each semester
- Must have gotten any paid research work done from anyone
- The research project selected must be completed within the duration of the program.
