Requirements for World Bank Internship Program

To be eligible for an Internship, Applicants must meet the requirements below:

  • Possess an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program.
  • Fluency in English is a must
  • Knowledge of additional languages is desirable. These languages include: French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese
  • Computing skills are an added advantage
  • Applicants must demonstrate skills relevant to the field of operations or corporate support.
  • Applications for the Bank Internship Program are normally made in one of the following fields: corporate support (Accounting, Communications, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Treasury, and other corporate services); or operations (front line) in the following fields: economics, finance, human development (public health, education, nutrition, and population); social sciences (anthropology, sociology); agriculture, environment, engineering, urban planning, natural resources management, private sector development, and other related fields.

Selection Process

The profiles of eligible candidates are distributed to WB operations and business units that have indicated an interest in employing interns following the end of the application process.

The next BIP cohort begins work in early May following selections made following interviews by possible hiring units.
