Eligibility Criteria

  • Currently attending a degree-granting institution located in Africa.
  • Candidates eligible for this opportunity include students pursuing M.Sc., M.Phil., or Ph.D. degrees who are currently registered in a graduate program at the time of the application deadline.
  • Sc. and M.Phil. students should be in the second year of their program.
  • Candidates who have already obtained their degrees are not qualified to apply.
  • Students majoring in soil science, agronomy, horticultural science, or tree crop science with a particular interest in plant nutrition are strongly encouraged to submit their applications.
  • Individuals who have previously received the Award are not permitted to apply.

Application Process

To finalize your application, you must submit the following documents in either English or French:

  • Prepare an electronic copy of transcripts for all university work, including cumulative and final grade records (GPA or percentile).
  • Obtain an electronic copy of two letters of support, one of which should be from your major professor. These letters must be signed, written on official letterhead, and include the phone number and e-mail address of the letter writer.
  • Describe the focus of your thesis or dissertation research. Highlight its originality, depth, scope, innovative approaches, and relevance.
  • Briefly share any relevant information, such as honors, awards, employment history, career goals, and other activities.
  • The Award will be given regardless of any other assistantship, scholarship, or award currently received by the student.
