Scholarship details

Successful applicants will receive coverage for:

  • Application and tuition fees throughout the study period, including basic books and notes
  • Dormitory accommodation
  • Subsistence costs
  • Health insurance

Eligibility criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship and residency in one of the eligible countries
  • Outstanding academic achievements
  • Proficiency in English (for English-taught courses)
  • Motivation and good health
  • Preferably under the age of 30

Residents (who must be nationals) of the following countries are eligible to apply:

Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, the Philippines, Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

Selection process

The selection process consists of two phases:

  • Phase 1: FAO will pre-screen candidates and forward applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary, which will then submit them to the chosen University by the applicants. Only complete dossiers will be considered, and those lacking names will not be processed.
  • Phase 2: Selected candidates may undergo a written or oral English examination as part of the admission procedure. The participating University will conduct further selection processes and notify successful candidates. FAO will not be involved in the final selection process. Notifications will be sent by the Ministry.

Application requirements 

Applications must be submitted via email from January 15 to February 29, 2024. Paper submissions will not be accepted.
