Bayer Foundation Fellowships for Masters, PhD & Medical Students 2024
They provide three different fellowships for exceptional master’s, PhD, and medical students to engage in international research projects, internships, and other activities. The purpose of these fellowships is to enrich existing study programs by offering additional financial support for international placements that complement current or future scientific studies.
The three fellowships available are:
- Otto Bayer Fellowships for Drug Discovery Sciences
- Jeff Schell Fellowships for Agricultural Sciences
- Carl Duisberg Fellowships for Medical Sciences.
Benefits
- Applicants can receive funding of up to 10,000€ for fellowships lasting between 2 weeks and six months. If studying in Germany, the placement must be undertaken in another country, while those studying outside Germany must conduct their fellowships at a German research institution.
- Bayer Foundation Fellowships are compatible with any other sources of funding or fellowships.
- The funding can be utilized for activities lasting a maximum of six months.
Eligibility Requirement
- Otto Bayer Fellowships for Drug Discovery Sciences are available to current MSc or PhD (or equivalent) students in natural science, pharmacy, or data science. Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree and those engaged in postdoctoral research are not eligible
- Jeff Schell Fellowships for Agricultural Sciences are open to current MSc or PhD (or equivalent) students in natural science or data science. Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree and those engaged in postdoctoral research are not eligible.
- Carl Duisberg Fellowships for Medical Sciences are intended for students studying human or veterinary medicine, or pursuing an MSc or PhD (or equivalent) in medical engineering, applied medical sciences, public health, or data science in medicine. Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree and those engaged in postdoctoral research
In applied medical science, public health, medical engineering, and data science in medicine are not eligible.
Evaluation Criteria
Primary Criteria for evaluation include:
- The overall quality and appropriateness of the application, are based on the provided guidelines and questions.
- The motivation and potential exhibited by the applicant.
- The extent to which the fellowship would benefit the applicant.
There are also additional criteria taken into consideration, such as:
- Collaborative and interdisciplinary proposals are mostly desirable.
