Climate Tracker is thrilled to announce the sixth edition of its Climate Journalism Mentoring Program, specifically tailored for participants from Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil, coinciding with the upcoming G20 Summit.

In this cycle, they have some exciting activities planned. They invite you to be a part of this extraordinary opportunity, where you can shed light on important stories and explore diverse storytelling formats.

Program Details

Phase 1

Participants will engage in a captivating live discussion (approximately 60 minutes) on the energy transition and climate change within their respective countries. They will have the opportunity to interact with local leaders and past program fellows, who will offer valuable advice on addressing these issues.

Conversation Dates:

  • Argentina: Monday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. (local time)
  • Mexico: Wednesday, May 15 at 3:00 p.m. (local time)
  • Brazil: Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m. (local time)

After every live session, participants will be motivated to propose a journalistic story idea, which will be further developed during the mentoring phase. The Climate Tracker team will select two proposals from each country, forming a talented team of six journalists across Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil.

Phase 2

The six chosen journalists will engage in a dynamic and hands-on learning journey from June to August 2024. During this period, they will receive the following benefits:

Eligibility Criteria

  • This opportunity is for journalists residing in Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil who are interested in reporting on the energy transition in the region.
  • Both journalists working in the media industry and those working independently are eligible to apply. It offers a training and learning experience that can be integrated with other responsibilities.

The ideal candidates:

  • Must have a minimum of one year of journalism experience.
  • Must exhibit a clear interest in environmental and climate issues.
  • Must participate in the live conversation.
  • Must present a compelling journalistic proposal after the discussion.
