Benefits of United Nations 2024 Global Compact SDG Pioneers Programme

Successful applicants will enjoy a variety of benefits, such as:

  • Each country’s Local Round winner will be named “2024 Global Compact Network SDG Pioneer.”
  • The UN Global Compact will honor 12 Global SDG Pioneers across two award categories: 1) Large National and Multinational companies, and 2) SMEs*.
  • Additionally, the UN Global Compact will recognize Global SDG Pioneers in six categories representing the regions where we operate: Western Europe and North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Oceania.

Eligibility Requirements of United Nations 2024 Global Compact SDG Pioneers Programme

  • To be eligible, applicants must come from companies actively participating in the Global Compact. Companies must submit their 2024 Communication on Progress (CoP) between April 1 and July 31 to maintain active status. Subsidiaries can participate if their parent company fulfills this requirement. Companies are strongly encouraged to submit their CoP by June 1, 2024, to avoid disqualification.
  • Changes in CoP status after being recognized as a Local and/or Global SDG Pioneer may lead to losing the SDG Pioneer title. Companies must have joined the UN Global Compact before October 1, 2023.
  • Global Compact Network Board Chairs and Board Members are ineligible to apply due to their influential roles. However, representatives from their companies are welcome to apply.
  • For Expansion Countries, Leadership Council members cannot apply due to their influence, but representatives from their companies are welcome.
  • If a company’s representative has been part of the SDG Pioneers External Review Committee, they must step down if a candidate from the same company applies to the same local round.
  • Individuals who have been part of the SDG Pioneers External Review Committee must wait one cycle before applying to the SDG Pioneers again.
  • Previous Local or Global SDG Pioneers can apply for another year of recognition, but their application must cover different activities/projects. If they served on the External Review Committee, they must wait one cycle before reapplying.
  • Global Compact Networks cannot recognize individuals from the same company within five years.
