The World Heritage Scholarship is open to cultural creators and researchers from around the globe, seeking individuals who have a connection to the UNESCO World Heritage list and are interested in linking the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland with other World Heritage sites through artistic, cultural, or research endeavors.
Established in 2018 by the Regional Assembly in Gävleborg, the International Residence Scholarship for the World Heritage site Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland aligns with UNESCO’s goal of fostering connections among people and promoting global cooperation with peace at its core. This scholarship supports these important principles by generating interest and understanding for our shared human history through World Heritage sites.
Gävleborg actively seeks innovative ideas to establish artistic and creative collaborations between the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland and other World Heritage sites worldwide, encompassing various aspects such as culture, music, art, and more.
Benefits
The World Heritage Scholarship offers a residency program that includes:
- Residing and immersing oneself in one or two World Heritage farms for a duration of one month.
- Receiving a grant of approximately 4,500 euros (50,000 SEK) to execute the proposed idea or project.
Eligibility Criteria
- The scholarship is open to individuals from around the globe, including researchers, artists, and other cultural figures.
- In the previous year alone, over 350 applicants from 60 different countries sought the scholarship. These applicants presented diverse projects in various formats, such as research, virtual reality, conservation, film, audio, dance, photography, storytelling, communication, sculpture, teaching, and handicraft.
