In its commitment to advancing translational and clinical research, the Osteology Foundation annually bestows grants upon selected researchers. A highlight of their endeavors is the launch of the Applied Research Grant program.

This initiative offers financial support to both emerging and established researchers and teams with a proven record of generating and translating fundamental research discoveries into clinical applications.

Encouragement is given for interdisciplinary collaborations involving basic scientists, clinicians, and research groups from diverse academic institutions and entities.

Funding allocation

  • Projects selected for the grant can receive up to 200,000 Swiss francs. Applications requesting less than the maximum amount are welcomed, provided financial feasibility is demonstrated.

Eligibility

The program welcomes applications from early-career and established researchers, and teams with a track record of advancing basic research towards clinical applications.

  • Early-career researchers: Individuals with up to five years of academic research experience post-PhD completion or clinical training, and who are enrolled in a research program.
  • Established researchers: Those with over five years of academic research experience post-PhD or clinical training, a history of funding, and publications.

Awarding criteria

Projects submitted under the Applied Research Grant program may be clinical or preclinical but must exhibit high potential for clinical impact and relevance to evidence-based dental/medical practice for human health and clinical care.

Evaluation criteria include:

  • Clinical relevance
  • Methodology
  • Originality of hypothesis
  • Facilities and qualifications

Additionally, early-career applicants must provide a letter of institutional support.
