Uppsala University in Sweden is inviting eligible African students currently pursuing a program at the University, to apply for its Masters Scholarship program for the 2024/25 academic calendar.

Every year, fee-paying international students wishing to enroll in Uppsala University’s international Master’s program are eligible for scholarships. However, Candidates should be aware that only around 2% of applicants are awarded a scholarship due to the high level of competition.

This year, Uppsala University Masters scholarship application season is scheduled to run from January 10–22, 2024, for potential International students beginning a program in the fall of the year.

Uppsala University Masters Scholarship Benefits

The student’s full tuition cost at Uppsala University will be covered.

Uppsala University Master’s Scholarships is for Master’s programs offered during the current admission round, which begins on August 28, 2024.

The student’s living expenses are not covered by the scholarships.

Available Programs

The Uppsala University Master’s scholarships cover all program except for the following programs:

Master’s Programme in Environmental Law
Master’s – Biology NABiS Nordic Master in Biodiversity and Systematics
Master’s in Implementation, Transformative Learning and Sustainability
Master’s – Religion in Peace and Conflict
Master’s – Transformative Game Design
Master’s Programme in Turkic Studies

Eligibility Requirements for Uppsala University Masters Scholarship

Eligible Candidates for the Uppsala University Masters Scholarship program include:

Citizens from non-EU/EEA countries and Switzerland.
Candidates with demonstrated academic excellence and passion for being in an educational environment.
Applicants who have applied for the Master’s programme before the specified University Admissions close date
Only the master’s program at Uppsala University selected by the Applicant as priority, that is, the very one they ranked highest out of the four programs offered by University Admissions, will be eligible for a Uppsala University Masters Scholarship.
Candidates must be eligible for the Master’s program for which they applied. University Admissions must receive the application fee and all of the supporting materials before the deadline.

Selection Process

Scholarships from Uppsala University are available to those who are liable to pay tuition fees.
Merit-based selection is used. Academically gifted students who have an interest in attending school are the target audience for the scholarships.
The candidate’s supporting documentation will be used to gather information about their academic record.
The candidate’s online scholarship application’s written motivational letter is also considered during the selection process.
Uppsala University does not consider financial needs.
