Climate Tracker, in collaboration with Open Society Foundations, is excited to announce the launch of their first-ever journalism awards in 2023. The main objective of this competition is to acknowledge and honor exceptional journalism that covers climate change and environmental topics in the Caribbean area. The Climate Tracker Caribbean Journalism Awards is extending an invitation to dedicated journalists, storytellers, and communicators to join and exhibit their work, to promote awareness and motivate constructive measures in response to climate-related difficulties.
When you take part in the Caribbean Climate Journalism Awards, you have the chance to have a positive impact. Your captivating narratives can influence policymaking, increase consciousness, and rally communities to combat climate change. In addition, finalists and winners will be acknowledged and presented with valuable networking prospects.
Award Categories
There are 5 awards available, each belonging to a unique category:
- Best Climate Justice Story: This award celebrates journalists who have successfully highlighted climate justice aspects in their storytelling, uncovering previously untold Caribbean narratives on a large scale.
- Best Investigative Climate Journalism: Recognizing exceptional investigative reporting that has uncovered crucial climate change-related issues within the Caribbean region.
- Best Youth Climate Reporter: Honoring the remarkable work of journalists aged between 18 and 24, who have made significant contributions to climate reporting.
- Best Solutions-Oriented Climate Reporting: Acknowledging journalism that focuses on practical solutions and innovative approaches to addressing climate challenges specifically in the Caribbean.
- Best Climate Photography: This category recognizes the outstanding work of multimedia practitioners who effectively capture the essence of climate change and its impacts in the Caribbean region.
Award
- Each winner will receive a prize of USD 400, along with being showcased and acknowledged within our network and communities. They will also be recognized at a virtual award ceremony in December 2023.
