The second edition of the Cavista Hackathon wrapped up on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the esteemed Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos.

Organized by Cavista Tech, a leading software development company operating across several countries, including Nigeria, Botswana, India, and the Philippines, the hackathon drew participation from 150 students representing prominent institutions such as the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), and Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech).

The 48-hour event served as a platform for participants to ideate, develop, and present AI-based solutions aimed at addressing pressing health-related issues. Throughout the hackathon, expert coaches provided invaluable guidance and feedback, ensuring participants had the support needed to bring their ideas to fruition.

The Champions and Their Solutions

Out of the intense competition, nine finalist teams emerged, showcasing a diverse range of innovative solutions. Notably, Team Jupiter and Tech Med from LASU clinched the top spots, while Farm Ceris of UNILAG secured the second runner-up position.

Among these standout entries, Team Jupiter’s AI dermatologist solution garnered significant acclaim for its ingenuity and potential impact.

Rewards for Ingenuity

The winning teams were duly rewarded for their efforts, with Team Jupiter walking away with a grand prize of ₦1 million. Additionally, the first and second runner-ups received ₦750,000 and ₦500,000, respectively. These rewards not only recognize the teams’ achievements but also serve as an incentive for future innovation.
