Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future Program 2024

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Schneider Electric Foundation, we are delighted to announce the launch of the Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future Program. This initiative, led by the Schneider Electric Foundation (SEF) in collaboration with Fondation de France and Ashoka Changemaker Companies, aims to identify and support 25 impactful and innovative youth projects across five continents.

Program Details

This year’s global call for contributions is centered around the concept of Just Transition, defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO) as greening the economy fairly and inclusively, creating decent work opportunities, and ensuring that no one is left behind. For the past 25 years, the Schneider Electric Foundation has been dedicated to driving sustainable development, promoting social inclusion, and empowering communities worldwide. As they celebrate this milestone, they are committed to magnifying their impact by investing in the next generation of leaders who will drive positive change.

Benefits

  • Schneider Electric Foundation and Ashoka offices will choose 5 projects per continent, totaling 25 ideas.
  • The best project in each continent will be awarded the 1st prize of 30k euros, the second project 20k euros, the third and fourth projects 10k euros each, and the last spot will receive 5k euros.
  • The jury selection, each project will have a chance to compete for the “Audience Prize,” which is the favorite idea of Schneider employees in that particular office and comes with a 2k euros reward.
  • At the COP29 event in November 2024, one project out of the selected 25 will receive the special prize of “Youth Innovation Champion” totaling 50k euros.
  • The selected projects will also gain increased visibility on social media channels of both the Schneider Electric Foundation and Ashoka countries.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The call for projects is open to the geographical zone of Europe, Middle East, and Africa, encompassing the following eligible countries:

Albania, Algeria, Angola, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belgium, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Gabon, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Ivory Coast, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malawi, Mali, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, and Zambia.

  • The applicant must demonstrate alignment with at least three out of the five priorities outlined in the CFP:
  • just transition.
  • Awareness and inclusion
  • Professional training in energy management
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Gender
  • The eligible categories for this opportunity include the following:
  • Professional training for youth targeting the future job market, focusing on green jobs, sustainability, new skills, etc.
  • Supporting the development and capacity building of social entrepreneurship projects.
