Ashoka/Schneider Electric Foundation (SEF) 2024 Program

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Schneider Electric Foundation, an initiative has been launched that holds promise for shaping the future of sustainability across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Led by the Schneider Electric Foundation (SEF) in collaboration with Fondation de France and Ashoka Changemaker Companies, the Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future Program aims to identify and support 25 impactful and innovative youth projects spanning five continents.

This year’s global call for contributions lies the concept of Just Transition. As defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO), Just Transition involves greening the economy in a manner that is fair, inclusive, and conducive to creating decent work opportunities while ensuring that no one is left behind.

Program Details

The Ashoka/Schneider Electric Foundation (SEF) 2024 Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future Program will see the selection of five projects per continent, totaling 25 groundbreaking ideas. Each continent will have its winners, with the top project receiving a 1st prize of 30,000 euros. Followed by prizes of 20,000, 10,000 (for both third and fourth places), and 5,000 euros respectively.

Additionally, an “Audience Prize” will be awarded to the favourite idea of Schneider employees at each participating office, accompanied by a 2,000 euros prize. Moreover, one project out of the 25 selected will be crowned the “Youth Innovation Champion” and awarded a total prize of 50,000 euros during the COP29 event in November 2024.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Projects eligible for consideration must align with the program’s overarching mission of social impact;
  • The Project must have been operational for at least one year.
  • They must be situated across the five continents specified.
  • Each continent will have its jury, comprised of regional directors, and members of the Young Sustainability Leaders. And representatives from both Schneider Electric Foundation and Ashoka.
  • The jury for the “Youth Innovation Champion” will conduct its evaluation in English.

Requirements

  • Prospective applicants must ensure that their projects fulfill at least three out of five priorities outlined by the call for projects. These priorities include Just Transition, Awareness and Inclusion, Professional Training in Energy Management, Entrepreneurship, and Gender.
  • Applicants must also submit a set of documents, including bylaws, activity reports, financial reports, bank account details, official declarations, and a list of board members.
  • Only complete applications, including all required documents, will be considered.

Timeline

The call for projects encompasses the Europe, Middle East, and Africa geographical zones, comprising a wide array of eligible countries.

The application process commenced on Monday, April 22, 2024, and will conclude on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

The announcement of selected projects is slated for Sunday, June 23, 2024.
