The newly launched simulation platform offers potential investors hands-on experience in stock trading within a virtual environment, enabling them to grasp essential concepts such as trading, stock selection, and portfolio management.

The collaboration between the BSE and Stanbic Bank Botswana, with the latter sponsoring $110,000 (P1.485m) over three years, underscores the power of partnerships in addressing societal challenges.

To promote the platform, the BSE and Stanbic Bank Botswana will integrate the Stock Market Simulator into the annual Senior Secondary School Finance and Investment Competition, designed to educate students about financial management and instill a culture of investing and saving from an early age.

Accessible via the BSE’s website, as well as the App Store and Google Play, the Stock Market Simulator aims to cater to individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels, making investing more approachable and engaging.

Democratizing Access to Financial Markets

Thapelo Tsheole, CEO of BSE, emphasized the platform’s user-friendly interfaces and comprehensive educational resources, aimed at demystifying the stock market and making investing accessible to all.

Chose Modise, CEO of Stanbic Bank Botswana, highlighted the platform’s role in democratizing access to financial markets and empowering individuals through financial education and inclusion, aligning with the bank’s commitment to driving informed investment decision-making.

The introduction of the tech-driven platform represents a significant milestone in Botswana’s efforts to promote financial literacy and cultivate a vibrant investment culture, driven by collaboration between key stakeholders in the financial sector.
