AnitaB.org is looking for outstanding technology innovators and technical civic leaders to recognize through the Abie Awards program. The awards celebrate these exceptional leaders, whose accomplishments and experiences show that they can make a positive impact on the world, both independently and as a group. The award highlights the remarkable skills and contributions of women and non-binary technologists in transforming the world through technology.

Abie Award Categories

  • Tech in Government Abie Award: The Tech in Government Abie Award recognizes the achievements of a woman or non-binary technologist working in the U.S. federal, state, or tribal government, who has made significant contributions in enhancing government services through technical innovation and upgrading the efficiency of government operations.
  • Technical Leadership Abie Award: The Technical Leadership Abie Award is the highest honor, recognizing a woman or non-binary technologist who has led or contributed to the development of a product, process, or innovation that has had a significant impact on business or society.

Benefits

  • The recipient will be recognized and celebrated at the prestigious Grace Hopper Celebration, including an invitation to the Abie Award Ceremony on the Mainstage.
  • The award winner will have the opportunity to speak at various engagements during GHC, showcasing their work and achievements.
  • The trip to GHC, including lodging, registration, and a stipend for travel and expenses, will be fully covered.
  • In addition to the recognition and opportunities at GHC, recipients will also receive a generous $50,000 prize for the Technical Leadership Abie Award category.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Submissions from outside of the United States are welcome and encouraged for all awards.
  • Fluent English speaking ability by the nominee is mandatory for delivering an acceptance speech, and all nomination forms must be in English.
  • Nominees must have reached the age of 18 before the start of the annual Grace Hopper Celebration where the award they are seeking will be given. For the 2023 Abie Awards, nominees must have turned 18 years of age no later than September 26, 2023.
  • Submit multiple nominations for the same award and to different awards, but thorough nominations are encouraged over multiple nominations.
  • Abie Awards are currently open to individuals only.
  • Nominate someone from within your own company for an Abie Award.
  • Nominees are eligible to nominate themselves for an award.

Nominees for this award are experienced and high-ranking technology professionals who inspire the tech community through remarkable technological contributions and are dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusivity for women and non-binary individuals in the field. The evaluation criteria for nominees include:

  • Technology Contributions: The nominee has demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise through sustained technical work that has made significant contributions to their field. The scope, depth, and duration of their technical work and leadership are important factors to consider.
  • Overall Impact: The nominee’s technical achievements have had a profound impact on their industry or society as a whole.
  • Impact on Women and Non-Binary Technologists: The nominee has taken deliberate actions to improve the impact, representation, and success of women and non-binary individuals in the technology sector.
