It offers full-time opportunities for people with different academic backgrounds to get professional experience within the AU. African Union Internship Program

The program helps early-career professionals learn about the AU and improve their skills. Participants will work in various areas and learn in a diverse environment. The AU will benefit from their knowledge, possibly grooming future African leaders.

Focus Areas

Interns assist in providing administrative and technical support across various AU departments and directorates, including but not limited to:

Eligibility Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program or possess a Bachelor’s or advanced/postgraduate (Masters) qualification in a related field.
  • Nationals of an AU Member State.
  • Fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
  • Not more than thirty-two (32) years of age at the time of selection.
  • Highest standard of moral conduct and integrity.
  • No serious criminal convictions.
  • Prior work experience is not required.

Terms and Conditions

  • AU provides no financial support for interns’ travel, accommodation, or living expenses.
  • AU may assist with entry and residence visas.
  • Interns are responsible for their medical insurance coverage.
  • Internship duration: one time for three (3) months, renewable once.
  • Interns are not entitled to compensation for travel or medical expenses.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong computer and internet skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in at least one AU working language.
