The application window for the 2024 ETH4D GCSD Scholarship is now open and has been scheduled to run from January 10, 2024, to February 29, 2024. The ETH4D Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development (GCSD) Scholarship is a prestigious program offered by ETH Zurich.
Specifically, the ETH4D GCSD Scholarship programme targets exceptional individuals from least- lower-, and lower-middle-income countries to pursue advanced studies in the field of global cooperation and sustainable development.
Benefits
The ETH4D–GCSD Scholarship Programme provides the following coverage for successfully selected applicants:
- Economy roundtrip ticket (up to 1’500 CHF)
- Visa fees
- Living allowance for 10 months of the study program
- Programme cost coverage through a tuition fee waiver
- Separate Stipend for Junior Project Assignment
- Participants of the MAS GCSD program will receive a separate stipend from the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) to cover living costs during the Junior Project Assignment (JPO) period.
Eligibility Requirements
Below are the requirements needed:
- Academic Qualifications: Candidates must hold a completed and recognized Master’s degree from a university to be eligible for the scholarship.
- Language Proficiency: A minimum English standard of TOEFL level C1 (TOEFL 95-120) is required for all applicants.
- The scholarship is open to candidates from least-, lower-, and lower-middle-income countries, as per the external page DAC-list of the OECD.
- Please note that ETH4D GCSD Scholarship program does not apply to students from upper-middle-income countries and high-income countries.
ETH4D GCSD Scholarship -Selection Process
The selection process is competitive and overseen by the ETH4D Exchanges and Scholarship Committee.
Applicants can expect to be notified of their status no later than the end of May 2024.

- The application process consists of two steps:
- Applying to the MAS GCSD program and then applying to the ETH4D–GCSD Scholarship Programme.
- It’s important to note that candidates will only be considered for an ETH4D–GCSD Scholarship if admitted to the ETH MAS GCSD programme.
