WIN Leadership Accelerator is a rigorous, 9-month program focused on career and leadership development, the programme is created for journalists and editors working in Africa, including the Arab Region and Southeast Asia. Every year, the program accepts between 100 and 150 applications.
The approach adopted by the WIN Leadership Accelerator Programme is a combination of coaching, training, mentorship, and networking. Through this program, participating journalists and editors will acquire new skills and build their capacity to lead and transform.
The WIN Leadership Accelerator Programme 2024 welcomes applications from Women media professionals from the following countries:
- WIN Arab Region: Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine
- Southeast Asia: Myanmar, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia;
- WIN Africa: Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Benefits
The following benefits are available to WIN Leadership Accelerator program participants:
- One-on-one coaching to develop a three- to five-year career plan: Create a plan for career management and discover how to put it into action. Five one-on-one meetings with follow-up sessions are scheduled between the coach and mentee. The coaches employ international best practices that have been specially tailored for the WIN Accelerator.
- Training in Certified Media Management: Training is provided in newsroom management, financial management, operationalizing digital strategy, and news business by regional and international specialists selected from the WIN and WAN-IFRA extended community. both in-person and through online learning environments.
- Gender Balance in Content training: Learn strategies and tools to assist you and your organization in producing more representative and balanced content.
- Managing Sexual Harassment training: Techniques and protocols to safeguard team members and yourself against sexual harassment in the newsroom and on the job.
- Leadership Hubs: These are national or regional events that can be attended in person or virtually to foster the development of professional networks and personal and career management techniques.
Who Can Apply?
- The target audience for the WIN Leadership Accelerator includes mid-to senior-level editors and journalists in WIN’s intervention markets
- Participants must be employed in the media industry, which includes print and digital newspapers, radio. And, in certain situations, broadcast, and have two to three years of experience managing people or processes.
- Candidates who acknowledge the non-binary nature of gender. Applications for the Accelerator are invited from any media professionals who identify as women as well as non-binary individuals.
