Call for Applications has been announced for WEASA 2024! The Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy, or WEASA for short, is an annual summer school designed for professionals in their mid-career who are from Poland, the Eastern Partnership, and the Western Balkans. Numerous policy analysts, specialists, advisors, civil workers, professionals from non-governmental organizations, and journalists participate in the academy each year.

WEASA was founded to enhance the ideals of freedom, and peace while presenting and debating the political, social, and economic underpinnings of contemporary democracies in the European Union and the transatlantic community. The academy is thrilled to announce that applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 edition of WEASA.

Overview of Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy (WEASA) 2024

WEASA 2024 will be held in person from July 1–10, 2024, at the College of Europe in Natolin in Warsaw, Poland. This announcement is made on behalf of the partner organizations of the Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy. Every year, professionals in their mid-career from the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkans attend the summer school.

In collaboration with the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and the College of Europe in Natolin, WEASA was established. The theme for this year is “Seeking momentum.” In times of crisis, embracing the Euro-Atlantic Union.

WEASA 2024 – Goals & Objective

  • This year, WEASA’s goal is to bring participants from the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe to the College of Europe in Natolin to discuss contemporary topics about European security, enlargement, and geopolitics.
  • Participants will be able to share experiences and work together to find solutions that will ultimately advance Euro-Atlantic integration.
  • In addition, WEASA 2024 will assist participants in gaining new skills, increasing their awareness of the obstacles their nations face in integrating into Europe, and beginning to consider solutions.
  • Together with understanding how the area can cooperate to further enhance its readiness for integration, create a more resilient society, and comprehend its place in Europe and the world, WEASA 2024 will also provide a forum for networking experience, and idea sharing.

Cost coverage and Founding

  • The organizers of WEASA will cover each participant’s travel costs for travel for up to €350 EUR.
  • Additionally, the participant’s accommodation costs and meals for the whole duration of the summer academy will be fully covered by the organizers.

Eligibility Requirements WEASA 2024

  • A cross-section of society, including public administration, academia, NGOs, think tanks, media, and civil society organizations representing citizens of the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership, will be represented at WEASA 2024.
  • Professionals in mid-career, typically with at least five years of experience, who work as policy analysts, experts, advisers, civil servants, journalists, private sector specialists, and NGOs and are interested in WEASA-related topics are encouraged to apply.
  • The WEASA Regulations / Rules of Procedure must be accepted by participants, so applicants must familiarize themselves with them before applying.

  • WEASA 2024 has been scheduled to kick-start from the 1st – 10th of July 2024 in person at the College of Europe in Natolin in Warsaw, Poland.
  • Participants are expected to arrive on June 30th and depart on July 11th. Kindly note that early or late arrivals/departures is not accepted as there are other programs hosted by Natolin before and after WEASA.
