OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security Training Programme
Individuals who are curious about conflict prevention and resolution tools, and have an interest in arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation, are encouraged to apply for this training opportunity offered by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
The OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security Training Programme has been established to empower young professionals (women specifically), to engage in the security sector actively, the politico-military security field is the main focus. The programme equips participants with the tools to effectively address crises and conflicts.
About OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security
The OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security Training Programme is designed to address the underrepresentation of women and youth in the security sector.
Through an annual educational course on conflict prevention and resolution, the OSCE seeks to nurture the next generation of leaders from its participating States and Partners for cooperation.
Course Topics
The course topics include:
- Arms Control, Disarmament, and Non-Proliferation: Gain insights into frameworks and strategies for managing weapons and mitigating the risk of proliferation.
- Regional Confidence- and Security-Building Measures: Explore measures aimed at fostering trust and cooperation among nations in the OSCE area.
- Control of Firearms, Ammunition, and Mines: Learn about regulations and protocols for controlling the use and transfer of weapons.
- Preventing and Countering Terrorism: Understand the multifaceted challenges of terrorism and explore strategies for prevention and response.
- Impact of New Technologies on Peace and Disarmament Processes: Examine the role of technology in shaping modern conflicts and disarmament efforts.
Eligibility Criteria for OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security
To be eligible for the OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security Training Programme 2024, applicants must meet the conditions below:
- Age: Between 22-32 years old at the time of application.
- Education: Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Nationality: Be a national of one of the OSCE participating States or Partners for cooperation.
- Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, as the programme aims to promote gender equality and diversity in the security sector.
