Employees from recently closed Free Radical Design have reportedly leaked some concept art from an unannounced project. With the new development, experts in the industry say it was taken way too soon.

Former employees of the just recently shuttered Free Radical Design, which is an Embracer Group-owned British video game developer that was reportedly responsible for the iconic TimeSplitters first-person shooter (FPS) series, have now been sharing concept art for a project that is yet to be announced.

In a Tweet by Alfred Turner, a character artist, the developer revealed that they have “been cleared to post some more work from my time at Free Radical Design” right above a link to their ArtStation profile. This very profile in question contains a host of folders filled with concept art revealing various characters from a mysterious unannounced title.

Other Ex-Employees and Workers Have Also Been Sharing Some of Their Work

A host of ex-employees and workers have also been sharing some of their own work. And this in question is inclusive of Mark Normington, who is a former Senior Artists, and one who has also been responsible for posting several in-game weapons from his own time at Free Radical Design.

What the Shared Concept Art Is For

There is however no suggestion whatsoever as to what this concept art may have been for right at this moment but, as it has been known that the studio in question has been working on a new TimeSplitters game since the year 2021, it seems very much likely that some of it was related to the series in one way or the other.

The overall look of the characters as well as weapons would also support this very theory. They however seem to be from a bit of a mish-mash of several themes and time periods, all ranging from the Second World War to futuristic sci-fi which would in turn fit the time travel mechanics of the series.

Fans Reaction to the Released Art Works

Fans of TimeSplitters have also been reacting to the art, with one in question posting “you’ve honestly done a fantastic job with those character models. They fit the TimeSplitters style perfectly” in response to the Tweet from Turner.

In the very same post, Turner also suggests that they “will be posting more soon,” so it is probably going to be worth the wait and keeping an eye out in case more art and material from the canceled project starts to surface over the coming period of months.
