The Mauritius launch forms part of NEC Africa’s broader ambitions to proliferate its comprehensive solutions portfolio spanning communications, enterprise, retail, infrastructure, energy, and security verticals into more African markets.

At an event graced by the Honourable Darsanand Balgobin, Mauritius’ Minister of IT, Communication, and Innovation, the two partners outlined plans to capitalize on immense digital transformation opportunities. NEC Africa cited data from Statista projecting Mauritius’ computing market will reach a $49.6 million valuation by 2024 amid a surge in cloud adoption.

“Mauritius is regarded as a flourishing financial hub, making it a pivotal market for us,” stated John Dewar, General Manager for Enterprise Technology Solutions at NEC Africa. “Businesses here are actively enhancing digital infrastructure and operational efficiency through cloud solutions.”

Executing a Successful Island-wide Rollout

Dewar emphasized that executing a successful island-wide rollout requires robust partnerships and committed personnel. “We’ve hired two sales executives dedicated to growing NEC Africa’s Mauritius business. Bringing our key product partners like IgKnight on board locally is also critical.”

The two companies have collaborated for nearly five years, making IgKnight an ideal regional ally according to NEC Africa. “NEC has specialized enterprise risk tools that resonate with our customers’ needs,” noted IgKnight CEO Shaan Kundamaal. “It’s the perfect partnership.”
