Authorized by President Paul Biya, the loan arrangement signifies a commitment to enhancing security measures across Cameroon.

The project’s initial phase, initiated in 2014, saw the deployment of approximately 1,500 CCTV cameras, along with essential transmission and control infrastructure, primarily concentrated in major urban centers like Douala and Yaounde.

The second phase, powered by the additional funds, aims to expand the surveillance network, reaching a target of 5,000 video surveillance cameras strategically linked to 17 control centers nationwide.

Additionally, the project seeks to establish a comprehensive communication network, including 10,000 camera-equipped transceiver stations, base stations, and optic fiber connections, facilitating seamless inter-service communication and emergency response coordination.

Harnessing the Capabilities of Advanced Video Surveillance Systems

Undertaken in collaboration with Chinese tech giant Huawei, the project leverages cutting-edge technology to bolster security operations.

Huawei’s expertise, coupled with its partnership with state-run Camtel, ensures robust connectivity for efficient video transmission and data management.

Overseen by the Delegation of National Security (DGSN), Cameroon’s police force, the project underscores a proactive approach towards combating organized crime, terrorism, and other societal threats.

By harnessing the capabilities of advanced video surveillance systems, law enforcement agencies aim to safeguard communities and uphold public safety across the nation.

Banco Santander Partnership Signifies a Pivotal Step

As Cameroon advances towards comprehensive urban surveillance, the partnership with Banco Santander signifies a pivotal step in realizing the country’s security objectives.

With concerted efforts and strategic investments, Cameroon is poised to establish a resilient security infrastructure that fosters a safer and more secure environment for its citizens.
