At last, Paramount+ will eventually be available to Africans. Paramount+ Is Coming to Africa to expand the Paramount+ streaming service to African consumers. Paramount Global a US broadcaster, reportedly strikes a deal to partner with MultiChoice.
Paramount+ Will Soon Debut in Africa
The Paramount+ streaming service will be available on all of Muitichioce’s regional pay-TV operators according to the agreement. In addition, both the “Showmax app” and the “DStv app” will offer access to the content.
In the announcements on Monday, Paramount Global stated that “this agreement is part of Paramount’s strategy to expand the Paramount+ brand in more ways around the world, including making it available as a direct-to-consumer streaming service, through bundled partnerships in key markets as well as through branded destinations in local markets through licensing deals.”
Using the “branded destination” strategy, Paramount Global has entered several markets, including Greece via Cosmote, Belgium through Streamz, and the Philippines through Blast TV.
African Audiences Can Now Access a Variety of Upcoming TV Shows
The agreement gives African audiences access to a variety of upcoming and returning TV shows as well as feature films, such as Survivor, Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923 according to Paramount Global. Showtime, Paramount Pictures, CBS, and Paramount+ Originals productions will all be accessible on the site.
This deal follows the recent extension of MultiChoice’s coverage agreement with Disney, a rival to CBS, last week, which extended the carriage of networks such as ESPN, Disney Channel, and National Geographic through 2027.
The launch date of the Paramount+ service on the DStv and Showmax applications is unknown, according to Paramount Global.
