History of World Milk Day Celebration

World Milk Day began in 2001 after the FAO established it. June 1 was chosen as the celebration date because other countries already celebrated Milk Day as that exact day of the year.

In 2016, World Milk Day was Celebrated in over 40 countries with activities that included milking demonstrations, conferences, seminars, and other events that promoted the role of milk in the national economy.

In 2017, Milk Day was celebrated in over 80 countries with 588 events reaching over 402 million impressions on the internet and social media.

From 2019-2022 Milk Day was celebrated in over 100 countries with about 1 billion impressions made worldwide.

In 2023, Milk Day was celebrated and there were about 1.35 billion impressions it was an amazing time all over the world with several Milk Day activities. World Milk Day will be celebrated on June 1st, 2024 again.
