The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Internship Programme of Human Resources aims to attract talented young women and men who are strongly motivated to share their new perspectives, innovative ideas, and latest research experience in FAO’s domains.

The internship offers a learning opportunity for the participants to supplement their academic knowledge with a practical work assignment in a field related to the work of FAO.

Interns are expected to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through the FAO internship experience as well as to the FAO’s Strategic Framework to support the 2030 Agenda through the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.

Criteria for FAO Internship Programme

  • The applicants must be Enrolled in an undergraduate, or graduate degree programme in a recognized institution at the time of application.
  • FAO only considers higher educational qualifications from accredited institutions in the World Higher Education Database. This is a list updated by the International Association of Universities / United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Access the list at: http:// whed.net/.
  • Applicants must specialize in a field relevant to the mission and work of FAO.
  • Must have a working knowledge of at least one FAO language such as; Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish
  • The applicant must be a national of FAO Member Nations.
  • The ideal candidate is expected to be aged between 21 and 30.
  • The Candidates should be able to adapt to an international multicultural environment and have good communication skills.
  • His/Her family members employed by FAO under any type of contractual arrangement are not eligible for the Internship Programme.
