Obama Foundation’s Leaders Program 2024 – Apply Now

The Obama Foundation invites emerging leaders between the ages of 24 and 45 to apply for the 2024-2025 Leaders program. This initiative aims to inspire, empower, and connect changemakers worldwide to catalyze positive and lasting change within their communities and regions.

Participants, typically aged 24-45, will engage in practical skill-building, leadership coaching, critical issue discussions, and small group support. The program encourages the establishment of societies grounded in shared values, fostering inclusivity and thriving communities.

Leaders will define a values-based foundation for sustained leadership, build relationships to drive inclusive change and prepare to address systemic issues. Completion of the program will equip every participant with a deeper understanding of values-based leadership, inspiring further action and fostering a global perspective.

Program Types

  • Africa: The Obama Foundation Leaders Africa program aims to create a growing network of innovative and values-driven changemakers. These leaders are committed to fostering positive change in their local communities, across the continent, and globally.
  • Asia-Pacific: Leaders Asia-Pacific is a leadership development program designed for emerging leaders. It operates on a non-residential basis and focuses on instilling a values-based leadership framework. The goal is to drive inclusive and lasting change in participants’ communities, the Asia-Pacific region, and worldwide.
  • Europe: Leaders Europe offers a six-month virtual leadership development journey. It strives to inspire, empower, and connect emerging leaders from all across Europe. Each Leaders Europe cohort consists of up to 35 participants annually.
  • United States: The Obama Foundation Leaders USA program is a six-month, non-residential leadership development initiative. It aspires to inspire, empower, and connect emerging leaders throughout the country, fostering positive change and impactful leadership nationwide.

Eligibility

If you’re a Changemaker aged 24 to 45 from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, or the United States, and you want to boost your leadership skills and connect with other emerging leaders, you can apply.

To be eligible, you should:

  1. Be a citizen, permanent resident, or have lived in an eligible country for at least 5 years.
  2. Focus your work on making positive changes in local communities or the broader region.
  3. Have at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  4. Be between 24 and 45 years old by August 26, 2024.
  5. Speak and write English well.

You also need to commit to:

  1. Not participating in a political campaign until May 1, 2025.
  2. Full participation in the six-month program.
  3. Attending 8 to 12 hours of virtual programming each month.
  4. Joining leadership coaching sessions and community group discussions.

Keep in mind that the program is run by the Obama Foundation in the United States. So, make sure you have no legal restrictions preventing you from participating in virtual programming or potential travel to the U.S. for in-person sessions, if there are any.
