The announcement follows last year’s statement by PowerCom, Namibia’s telecom infrastructure company, indicating the need for approximately 300 network towers over the next three to five years.

Minister of ICT, Emma Theofelus, highlighted the importance of this initiative during the 23rd ICT stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Windhoek.

The event, organized by the ministry, served as a platform for communication between the government and stakeholders on critical ICT development issues.

Enabling Environment in the ICT Sector

Shoki Kandjimi, senior public relations officer at the ministry, stated that the forum aimed to engage ICT stakeholders on pertinent matters and update them on the government’s position regarding the creation of an enabling environment in the ICT sector.

Over 50 sector representatives attended the event, where presentations were also given by the Namibia Standards Institute and the National Radiation Protection Authority.
