Telkom Establishes Technology Committee at Board Level

Telkom has announced the establishment of a technology committee at the board level, aimed at providing oversight of technology and innovation strategies. The committee will be chaired by Herman Singh, an independent non-executive director, and will officially commence operations from April 1st.

According to a regulatory filing with the JSE, the committee’s mandate includes overseeing areas such as information security, cybersecurity, data privacy, and third-party technology strategies.

The committee members will comprise various Telkom board directors, including Sibusiso Sibisi, Ipeleng Selele, Keith Rayner, Sibusiso Luthuli, and Louis von Zeuner, alongside Herman Singh as chairman.

Herman Singh brings significant expertise to the role, having served in leadership positions at Vodacom Group and Beyond Payments, a fintech business owned by Standard Bank.

Telkom’s Ongoing Commitment

His prior experience includes roles as head of mobile commerce at Vodacom and director of architecture and technology engineering at Standard Bank.

Telkom, chaired by Geoffrey Qhena, also announced changes to its nominations and socials & ethics committees.

These committees, chaired by Qhena and fellow director Ethel Matenge-Sebesho, respectively, reflect Telkom’s ongoing commitment to governance and strategic oversight.
