Huawei Opens Applications for Kenya’s Seeds for the Future Programme

Applications for the program commenced last week and will continue until April 30th, with Huawei seeking to select qualified candidates to participate in the initiative.

As part of Huawei’s global corporate social responsibility flagship endeavors, the Seeds for the Future Programme has been instrumental in providing virtual training to over 240 Kenyan students over the past nine years.

Notably, 47 of these students have had the opportunity to travel to China for a two-week training session on Chinese culture and the latest technological innovations at Huawei’s headquarters.

In the previous year, 50 exceptional students successfully completed the virtual programme, engaging with experts from around the world on topics spanning technology, leadership, and business.

Participants Exposure to Cutting Edge Technologies

For the 2024 edition, Huawei has announced a return to the physical format of the programme, offering participants exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Additionally, participants will have the chance to interact with global IT experts and will be awarded a graduation certificate upon program completion.

To be eligible for selection, Huawei is seeking talented university students with a GPA of 3.0+ (B or higher) or a top 30% faculty ranking, along with a keen interest in ICT and a passion for telecoms and technology advancements, among other criteria.

Huawei is Commitment ICT Talent in Kenya

It’s important to note that the Seeds for the Future Programme is a non-salaried initiative, and participation does not guarantee future employment with Huawei post-graduation.

Collaborating closely with Kenya’s Information and Communications Technology Authority, Huawei is committed to nurturing ICT talent in Kenya and providing mentorship opportunities for the top ten performing students in the program.
