International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship

Established in memory of Elizabeth Neuffer, a distinguished correspondent for The Boston Globe and recipient of the IWMF Courage in Journalism Award (1998), the fellowship honors her legacy and furthers her commitment to human rights and social justice.

Neuffer tragically passed away while reporting in Iraq on May 9, 2003. In collaboration with Neuffer’s family and friends, the IWMF launched this initiative to celebrate her contributions while advancing her work in these vital fields.

Applicants of all nationalities are welcome, but proficiency in written and spoken English is essential for non-native speakers to fully engage with and benefit from the program.

The fellow will conduct research and coursework at MIT’s Center for International Studies and undertake journalism internships at The Boston Globe and The New York Times.

The program’s adaptable structure offers the fellow opportunities for academic exploration and skill development in journalism.
